God's Voice Is Speaking

The Pursuit of GodI'm currently studying A.W. Tozer's "The Pursuit of God" with my small group, and came across something that made me think about God's Word in a new way.
He spoke a Book and lives in His spoken words, constantly speaking his words and causing the power of them to persist across the years... God decreed the death of every man, and no added word has He needed to speak. The sad process of mankind across the face of the earth from birth to the grave is proof that His original word was enough.
I've always known that God's word is powerful, but I had never thought about what that meant in this way. Tozer points out that at the beginning of time, there was an event where God spoke words - creation, life, and then death. Although His spoken words were spoken once, they are still alive because God (the giver of life) causes them to remain alive.

Furthermore, because His words are still living, they are still speaking - presently. They were true when God spoke them to Adam and Eve, they are still true and relevant to everyone who reads (or hears) them today, and they always will be until Christ defeats death permanently (when He will fulfill His ultimate promise).

Since God's words are living words and are still speaking today, they still contain the full power of God as when He first pronounced them. Think about this for a moment. Every person who has lived (only God has excepted the few) since time began has died. Every life has obeyed God's command for justice, that the wages of sin is death, and subsequently died. That is incredible power!

The impact this has had on my faith in God's trustworthiness has been great. Thinking about it that way, how could I ever doubt God's sovereignty, power, wisdom, or love? Consider this for yourself. How does it impact your faith in God's promises to you?
